We are actively seeking volunteers to tutor elementary students in reading! Our program collaborates with four Seattle elementary schools to train community volunteers to provide one-on-one support and mentoring for student readers. Tutors are paired to work with the same student through the end of the school year, for one weekly 1 hour tutoring session.
No previous experience is necessary! Tutors are provided with a structured, easy-to-follow curriculum to work with, and a staff Site Coordinator is present at all times for ongoing support and guidance.
Reading Partners is a nationwide program and we currently work with Beverly Park Elementary, Sanislo Elementary, Highland Park Elementary, and Madrona K-8 School. Our highest need schools are in west and south Seattle, and we have about 23 students still waiting for tutors! Volunteers tutor Monday through Thursday, between 8AM - 3:30PM (hours may vary slightly from center to center).
