A Pennsylvania high school student has been suspended for three days for asking Miss America to the prom at a school assembly.

18-year-old Patrick Farves approached Miss America Nina Davuluri during a question-and-answer session in the school's auditorium and asked her to be his prom date. He did this despite the school warning him not to, so the principal has slapped him with a three-day in-school suspension for interrupting the event.

Miss America told Farves that her busy schedule would make it impossible for her attend the prom, but she's making it up to him by coming his defense. Davuluri has contacted Central York High School and asked school officials to reconsider their punishment. No word yet if they've changed their minds. Meanwhile, Farves is still looking for a prom date in case Miss Universe or Miss USA are interested. (People)
